Fingerprinting

1. Usage Fingerprint is necessary for applying for Thai Police Clearance Certificate, issued by Special Branch Bureau. It is usually required for studying aboard, working overseas, visa application, child adoption, etc.

 

2. Important Condition Fingerprinting has to be done in person at the Royal Thai Embassy from Monday to Friday 9.30 – 12.30 hrs. and 13.30 – 16.00 hrs. (Except Embassy’s Public Holidays) by booking the online appointment (click here and select the Legalisation).

 

3. Documents Required

3.2 A valid Passport or IDs

 

4. Fee

  • $50.00 AUD (2 sets) payable in cash or money order made payable to “Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra”

 

5. How to Acquire Police Clearance Certificate

 

5.1 Go to Thailand. Bring the fingerprints authenticated by the Embassy and other relevant documents to the Police Clearance Service Center (PCS), Royal Thai Police,  to claim the Police Clearance Certificate. Further information about the required documents can be found in this Web Page.

 

5.2 If you are unable to go to Thailand, there are 2 options to claim the Police Clearance Certificate:

 

5.2.1 Post the fingerprints authenticated by the Embassy to the Police Clearance Service Center (PCS), Royal Thai Police. Please follow the instructions on FOR APPLICANT RESIDING ABOARD.

 

5.2.2 Have someone go in your stead by doing the Power of Attorney. The Representative is required to to bring your fingerprints authenticated by the Embassy to The Police Clearance Service Center (PCS), Royal Thai Police, to claim the Police Clearance Certificate for you. 5.2.3 Using private legal practitioners in Australia. Please choose cautiously a credible one.

 

6. An alternative for fingerprinting – If you are unable to come to the Embassy for fingerprinting in person, you can download the form (<— click to download), complete it, and go to the local police station in Australia for fingerprinting. However, before proceeding through 5.1 or 5.2 you must (1) get the aforementioned Form authenticated by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in the state/ territory where the applicants reside, and (2) get it authenticated further by the Embassy, which can be proceed by post.
