Ambassador of Thailand met with Thailand’s Banpu Executives in Australia

On 11 May 2023, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand, together with Mrs. Hattaya Khusakul, Consul-General of Thailand in Sydney, Miss Wanasri Jotikabukkana, Director of Thai Trade Centre in Sydney, and Ms. Sithee Tanboonteck, Director of Thailand Board of Investment Office in Sydney, met with Thailand’s Banpu Executives in Australia at the company’s office in Sydney.

The Banpu executives in Australia, namely, Mr. Stijn Koppers, CEO of Banpu Energy Australia, Mr. Craig Gillard, CEO of Centennial Coal, Mr. Chumpon Teeravisutkul, Chief Operating Officer of Centennial Coal, and Mr. Tanarat Chaisiri, Managing Director of Banpu Australia, briefed the Ambassador and Team Thailand in Sydney about their business operations in Australia. Both sides also exchanged views about opportunities and challenges for Thai investors in Australia, ways to support Thai investment in Australia, as well as the Australian Government’s policy on the transition to renewable energy.

Banpu has invested in Australia since 2010, with the acquisition of Centennial Coal in New South Wales. In 2020, Banpu expanded its Australian business to renewable energy by establishing Banpu Energy Australia Company to meet the increasing demand for electricity generation from renewable resources.
