Ambassador of Thailand paid a visit to the State of New South Wales

On 18 May 2021, HE Ms Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador of Thailand, paid a visit to the State of New South Wales and met with the following.

1) Courtesy call on the Governor of New South Wales (NSW) : Ambassador Busadee paid a courtesy call on HE The Honourable Margaret Beazley, Governor of New South Wales, at the Government House.  Both sides appreciated the deep and longstanding relations between NSW and Thailand.  The Governor of NSW said the State is honoured that His Majesty the King spent his youth years at the King’s School, Paramatta and recalled His Majesty’s latest visit as Crown Prince to the Government House in 2000.  They also discussed the current COVID-19 situation, the vaccine rollout plans, post-COVID-19 economic recovery and the possibility of bringing back Thai students to New South Wales, which is an important aspect of the people-to-people relations.

 

2) Meeting with Minister of Multiculturalism : Ambassador Busadee, together with Mr Chakkrid Krachaiwong, Consul-General in Sydney met with The Honourable Dr Geoff Lee, Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education and Minister for Sport, Multiculturalism, Seniors and Veterans at the NSW Ministerial Office.  Both sides discussed the close ties between Thailand and NSW especially the strength of the Thai community in NSW and their active and positive contribution to the wider community.  They also discussed opportunities for post-COVID-19 economic recovery, including sharing of experiences on startup businesses, as well as the possibility to return Thai students to continue their studies in NSW.
