Thai Ambassador met with Senator the Honourable Tim Ayres, Assistant Minister for Trade
On 11 June 2024, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, met with Senator the Honourable Tim Ayres, Assistant Minister for Trade, at the Australian Parliament House.
Both sides discussed ways to further enhance cooperation and economic engagement between Thailand and Australia, particularly in the sectors highlighted in the recommendations of the “Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040” report of the Australian government, such as food and agriculture, green transition and education and skill training. Noting the initiative by the Australian government to undertake Business Missions to Southeast Asian countries to promote trade and investment, they also discussed opportunity for a business mission to Thailand during the second half of 2024.
Both sides also exchanged views about cooperation at the multilateral levels where the two countries work closely together. This includes the World Trade Organisation (WTO) framework, in which Australia recognised Thailand’s constructive role, in particular, in relation to the agricultural sector.
