On 22 May 2026 at 10.00 hrs., the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra organised a merit-making ceremony to pay tribute to Queen Rambhai Barni, the Queen of the Seventh Reign, at Wat Dhammadharo, Canberra.
 
On this occasion H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, presided over the ceremony, which was attended by Heads and officials of Team Thailand agencies in Canberra, together with their spouses, as well as members of the Thai community in Canberra and vicinity. Venerable Phra Rajasilaporn, Abbot of Wat Dhammadharo and President of The Thai Dhammayut Sangha Council of Australia and New Zealand, the presiding Sangha of the ceremony, was accompanied by a monastic delegation of 5 monks residing at Wat Dhammadharo.
 
Queen Rambhai Barni, the Queen of the Seventh Reign, was born on 20 December 1904 and passed away on 22 May 1984. 25 February 2026 marked the 100th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession as Queen Consort. In this regard, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) honoured Queen Rambhai Barni’s legacy and royal contributions in the fields of education, sustainable social development, and gender equality.
