On 19 May 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, welcomed Mr. Andrew Barr MLA, Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), at the Thai Residence for a luncheon to follow up on the Chief Minister’s visit to Thailand in October 2025 and discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between Thailand and the ACT in areas of mutual potential. She was joined by Ms. Jitvipa Benjasil, Minister, Ms. Waraporn Saelee, Minister Counsellor (Agriculture), Office of Agriculture Affairs, and Ms. Pornpat Pan-ngok, Commercial Attaché, Office of Commercial Affairs (Thai Trade Centre), Sydney.
On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation in economic and innovation sectors, particularly in areas where the ACT has strong capabilities, including the digital economy, smart cities, clean technology, and research and development. The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen linkages between Thai and ACT educational institutions both for academic and vocational training, research agencies and private sectors, as well as opportunities for cooperation in green transition and renewable energy. In addition, both sides explored avenues to further promote arts and cultural cooperation as well as trade and investment between Thailand and the ACT.
