Thai Ambassador visited Western Australia to promote and explore opportunities for science, technology and innovation cooperation

During 7–8 October 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, visited Western Australia to promote and explore opportunities to deepen science, technology and innovation cooperation in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, space and astronomy.

The Ambassador attended in the opening session of the Indo-Pacific Robotics, Autonomy, AI and Cyber Conference (IPRAAC) in Perth, which was attended by over 200 representatives from government, private sector, and academia across Indo-Pacific countries. The Honourable Mr. Stephen Dawson, Minister for Regional Development, Ports, Science and Innovation, Medical Research, and Kimberley of Western Australia, gave opening remarks. The Ambassador later joined members of the diplomatic corps from the European Union, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, and the Republic of Korea, at the luncheon hosted by Minister Dawson, during which she shared Thailand’s perspectives on promoting science, technology and innovation as tools in addressing challenges, improving the quality of life and advancing national development, as well as opportunities for Thailand and Australia, including Western Australia, could enhance cooperation.

The Ambassador also joined the site visits at AVI, a leading Australian manufacturer of telecommunications equipment and software, and the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Center at Curtin University. The program was organised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Western Australia.

On 8 October, the Ambassador participated in the site visit at the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory, located in Wajarri Yamaji Country, which was co-organized by the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). The visit provided an opportunity to learn about ongoing work and explore potential areas for international collaboration.
