On 13 October 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, joined Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Embassy representatives of ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste, in paying a courtesy call on Senator the Honourable Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, at the Australian Parliament.

The Australian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of ASEAN to Australia and in the Indo-Pacific region. She reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to enhancing engagement with Southeast Asian countries through various initiatives, including those under the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 and the ASEAN-Australia Centre.

On this occasion, the Thai Ambassador, in her capacity as current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Canberra (July–December 2025), expressed appreciation for Australia’s active and constructive role as ASEAN’s first dialogue partner. She further proposed areas for advancing Australia’s partnership with ASEAN, particularly strengthening cooperation to address transnational challenges, deepening trade and investment, and enhancing collaboration on education, people empowerment and people-to-people connectivity.

In addition, the Ambassador reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment and the country’s readiness, under its new government, to actively and constructively contributing to efforts to address regional and global challenges and promote peace and progress, and to work with partners, including ASEAN member states and Australia, bilaterally and multilaterally.
