On 25 August 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Richard Harris SC OAM, Lieutenant Governor of South Australia, to promote Thailand’s relations with South Australia as well as with Australia more broadly. She was joined by Mrs. Mandy-Jane Giannopoulos, Thailand’s Honorary Consul-General in Adelaide. In addition to opportunities for trade, investment and collaboration in various sectors, the Ambassador also underscored in particular the strength of people-to-people ties and mutual assistance that the two countries have rendered to each other. H.E. Dr. Richard Harris SC OAM played a key role, as part of the Australian rescue team, joining the multi-national mission to rescue members of the Moo Pa (Wild Boar) Academy soccer team and their coach from the flooded Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand in 2018.
