On 14 May 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, together with Mrs. Chearanai Tina Field, Thai Honourary Consul in Brisbane, met with the Honourable Fiona Simpson MP, Minister for Multiculturalism and Minister for Women and Women’s Security of Queensland at the Queensland Parliament.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation to the Queensland Government for its continued support to Thai community and businesses in Queensland. She noted the constructive contribution by Thai communities and associations, including through cultural festivals and activities, to support multiculturalism in the state. Both sides also exchanged views on challenges facing Thai community, particularly the problems related to domestic violence, which remains one of major challenges faced by many Thai women in Australia.
Afterwards, the Ambassador met with the Honourable Ros Bates MP, Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training of Queensland. They discussed the potentials in expanding trade and investment and enhancing engagement and collaboration in various sectors, including food and agriculture, energy transition, infrastructure development, digital economy, innovation and emerging technologies, and tourism between Thailand and Queensland. The Ambassador sought support from the Queensland government for Thai investors in Queensland. She also invited the Minister to lead a business delegation to Thailand to explore trade and investment opportunities.
