On 18 February 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand, welcomed the Honourable Joe Szakacs, Minister for Trade and Investment, Minister for Local Government, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, and Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science of South Australia, at the Thai Residence, during the latter’s visit to Canberra. Also attending were Mr. Daniel Wills, Chief of Staff to Minister Szakacs, Mr. Adam Reid, Chief Executive of the Department for State Development of South Australia, Mr. Peerapong Phimonwichayakit, Minister Counsellor, and Mr. Pitchaya Sonjai, Counsellor.

On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on trade and investment relations between Thailand and South Australia, including opportunities and ways for further expanding two-way investments, promoting supply chain linkages in strategic industries, developing skilled labour, fostering connections and collaborations between start-ups and agencies working on innovation ecosystems, as well as enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector. Both sides also discussed about a plan to bring a business delegation from South Australia to visit Thailand.
