On 8 April 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, presented her credentials to H.E. Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, GCL, GCMG, KStJ., Governor General of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, at the Government House, Port Moresby, accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, with residence in Canberra.
On this occasion, both sides exchanged views and reaffirmed their determination to foster closer Thai-Papua New Guinean relations. They welcomed Papua New Guinea’s plan to open its Embassy in Thailand, which constitutes a milestone as both nations will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026. The Ambassador also congratulated Papua New Guinea on the 50th anniversary of its independence this year and expressed Thailand’s readiness to support Papua New Guinea and strengthen cooperation in such areas as sustainable development, disaster management and recovery, as well as agriculture and fisheries.
