On April 8, 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, led by the spouses of Heads and officials of Team Thailand agencies in Australia, hosted a Coffee Morning event titled “A Taste of Thailand: Experience the Flavors and Rhythms of Thailand” at the Thai Pavilion, Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra. The event aimed to promote Thai culture among the group of spouses of diplomats of ASEAN countries.

On this occasion, Mr. Rutchabhoom Boonrawd, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Royal Thai Embassy, on behalf of the Ambassador, delivered welcoming remarks. He also gave an introduction about Songkran Festival to raise awareness and further promote this festival in Thailand, which was inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2023. Participants then viewed a video on how to make “Chor Muang”, traditional Thai flower-shaped dumplings, watched a live demonstration by the Ambassador’s Chef and had the hands-on experience to try making “Chor Muang”, especially how to beautifully pleat the dough. Thai snacks and drinks served at the event included coconut sticky rice with egg custard, coconut sticky rice with shrimp, Thai shrimp toast, Thai iced tea and butterfly pea lemonade.

The Embassy also prepared a Thai Corner and provided traditional Thai costumes for the participants to dress up and take photos. At the end of the event, the spouses of Heads and officials of Team Thailand agencies in Australia demonstrated the traditional Thai circle dance (Ram Wong) and invited the participants to join dancing to Songkran song, leaving a memorable experience on the 50 participants.
