Ambassador of Thailand visited the University of Sydney

On June 17, 2024, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand, along with Ms. Hataya Khusakul, Consul General in Sydney, visited the University of Sydney. They were welcomed by Mr. Shane Griffin, Associate Vice President of Sydney Future Students and Dr. Natali Pearson, Program Coordinator at the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre, who provided an overview of the university’s operations.
The University of Sydney is the first university in Australia and currently has the highest proportion of international students. Recently, the University of Sydney has launched several new interdisciplinary programs and research centres to address urgent global issues, including the Net Zero Institute and Sydney Biomedical Accelerator.
Dr. Pearson also briefed the meeting about the role of the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre in coordinating research plans of faculty members and experts in all fields related to Southeast Asia. Currently, there are over 400 research papers on Southeast Asia. Both parties exchanged views on opportunities to enhance cooperation, such as extending collaborations between the university and Thai education institutions, researcher and student exchanges, scholarships and research grants.
