On 11 July 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, led the Heads and officials of Team Thailand agencies in Canberra and their spouses in a volunteer activity to commemorate the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on 28 July 2025. The volunteers helped the St Benedict's Community Centre in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, provide and serve free and nutritious lunch to those in need. This included Thai Jasmine rice, panaeng chicken curry and fried eggs with sweet tamarind sauce.
St Benedict’s Community Centre was established through the cooperation among churches in Queanbeyan to provide support to those in need. It receives fundings from the New South Wales Government and donations from various sectors. The Centre offers assistance which encompass both immediate measures, such as accommodation assistance, access to healthcare, and providing breakfast and lunch 4 days a week, as well as distributing ingredients to cook at home, and long-term solutions, such as advice on legal rights and matters, skills training to improve employment opportunities.
The aim is to help those in need to have a better quality of life so they can live independently within the community.
The Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand agencies in Canberra organised this volunteer activity to provide an opportunity for those in need to enjoy a special meal from what they usually have. It also allowed officials and staff from Team Thailand agencies to interact with the Centre’s personnel and those receiving the food, which helps to promote awareness about Thailand, particularly the constructive role of Team Thailand agencies in contributing to an inclusive society.
