On 2 July 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra hosted a meeting between Thai businesses in Australia and Team Thailand agencies at the Embassy and via videoconference. Representatives from Amora Hotels, Banpu Energy, B.Grimm, Centennial Coal (an investment of Banpu), Chememan, Charoen Pokphand (CP), Dutch Mill, Enserv, Indorama, Minor International, MSF Sugar (an investment of Mitr Phol Group), PTTEP, RATCH, SCG and Thai Airways participated in the meeting. Team Thailand agencies represented included the Embassy, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney, the Office of Agricultural Affairs in Canberra, the Thai Trade Centre in Sydney, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) Sydney Office, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Sydney Office), as well as the Honorary Consuls of Thailand in Brisbane and Hobart.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, who highlighted the Government's foreign economic policy and exchanged views with representatives of the Thai private sector on the economic priorities of Thailand and Australia, as well as the opportunities and challenges in doing business in Australia. Discussions also covered ways to further promote trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador underscored the important role of Thai businesses as key partners in advancing Thailand - Australia economic relations, particularly in areas where both countries’ strengths are complementary, including energy, minerals, technology and innovation and food and agriculture, sectors in which Thai companies have established presence and are well positioned to contribute to Australia’s economy.

Thai businesses shared perspectives on the evolving business environment in Australia and ways in which Team Thailand agencies could further support Thai businesses and facilitate their operations in Australia. The meeting also explored options for strengthening networking and collaboration among Thai businesses in Australia as a means of enhancing the long-term role and collective engagement of the Thai private sector.

The meeting is part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement and promote regular interactions with the Thai business community in Australia to further advance Thailand’s economic diplomacy through the expansion of trade, investment and strategic partnerships between Thailand and Australia. This also contributes to preparations for the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Thailand - Australia diplomatic relations in 2027.
