On 15 June 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy welcomed the participants of the second cohort of the OECD Masterclass on Thailand’s OECD Accession at the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra. On this occasion, H.E. Ms Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, hosted a dinner for the delegation, which comprised 23 representatives from Thai government agencies and private sector who play important roles in advancing Thailand’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Masterclass, organised by the University of Queensland with support from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is being held from 7 to 21 June 2026. The program aims to provide participants with firsthand insights into Australia’s OECD accession experience, build networks with Australian experts on OECD related issues, and enhance understanding of OECD standards and best practices.
In her welcoming remarks, the Ambassador underscored Thailand’s strong commitment to becoming an OECD member, noting the Prime Minister’s announcement of OECD accession as the national agenda with accelerated process and the new target year of 2028 (initially set as 2030). She also reiterated that each organisation can play important part in supporting structural strengthening and reforms to further enhance Thailand’s competitiveness and readiness for full OECD membership. The Ambassador welcomed the enthusiasm of the participants and encouraged them to apply the knowledge and experience gained from the Masterclass to make progress in advancing national development in their respective areas of work.
