On 16 June 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, joined other Ambassadors and High Commissioners of ASEAN countries in Canberra, or their representatives, in a joint call on Mr. Andrew Barr MLA, Chief Minister of Australian Capital Territory (ACT) at the ACT Government Office.
Mr. Barr underscored the importance of ASEAN and reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to deepening economic engagement with Southeast Asian countries, as reflected in the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040. He also expressed the ACT Government’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, particularly in the areas of education and research, medicine and public health, energy transition, tourism, people-to-people links and air connectivity.
Ambassador Arjaree expressed appreciation to the ACT Government for its continued support extended to the Thai community in Canberra and reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to further strengthen collaboration with the ACT in the areas mentioned by Mr. Barr as well as other areas of potentials, particularly in the fields of research and innovation development, and creative industries.
On this occasion, Ambassador Arjaree also extended an invitation to Mr. Barr to attend the Thai Festival 2025, which will be held at the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra on 14 September 2025.
