On 26 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, opened the “Thailand – Australia Track 1.5 Dialogue on Strengthening Cooperation in the Mekong Subregion” at The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok. H.E. Dr. Angela Macdonald, Ambassador of Australia to Thailand, also delivered special remarks during the opening ceremony.

This Track 1.5 Dialogue was jointly organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, the Department of International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Australian Embassy in Bangkok, and the Mekong Institute.

More than 75 experts and stakeholders from Thailand and Australia in public, private, academic and civil society sectors as well as representatives of international and regional organisations participated in the Dialogue to exchange insights, share ideas and develop actionable recommendations on how Thailand and Australia can collaborate more in addressing challenges in the Mekong Subregion, particularly transnational crime and transboundary environmental issues.
