On 21 July 2025, H.E. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, visited the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, one of Australia’s key hubs for medical innovation and research. The University of Melbourne hosted the delegation and gave a tour at various institutions within the precinct.

During the visit, the Ambassador visited three notable facilities in the precinct, was briefed about their activities, and discussed opportunities for collaboration with Thailand. These are the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Alliance, a collaborative centre that brings together leading hospitals, scientists, and government bodies to drive innovation in comprehensive cancer care; the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, which specialises in research on infectious diseases and immunology and is a national leader in vaccine development, virology, and disease surveillance systems; and the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, which is one of the largest neuroscience research centres in the Southern Hemisphere, dedicated to understanding the brain and nervous system, including conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy, and particularly recognised for integrating neuroscience with advanced technologies.

In addition, the Ambassador visited Melbourne Connect, a centre for innovation, technology, and collaboration between academia and industry, with mission to translate ideas and research into practical applications. Melbourne Connect also houses a tech startup incubator.
