Ambassador of Thailand to Australia met with the Mayor of Whitehorse, Victoria, to explore opportunities for cooperation and strengthen the role of the Thai community

On 24 June 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, met with Ms. Kirsten Langford, Mayor of the City of Whitehorse, Victoria, together with her team comprising Mr. Simon McMillan, Chief Executive Officer, Cr Kieran Simpson, Deputy Mayor, and Cr Andrew Davenport, Councillor, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra.
During the meeting, the Ambassador received a briefing on the City of Whitehorse's potentials, plans and development priorities as one of the key suburbs of Melbourne’s metropolitan area. Both sides exchanged views on opportunities to enhance cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy and the City of Whitehorse, including in people-to-people links, trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
The discussion also included opportunities to promote the establishment of a dedicated area for Thai businesses, as a means of showcasing Thailand's food and cultural identity, supporting Thai entrepreneurs, and generating economic opportunities, as a part of promoting the multicultural diverse nature of Melbourne. In addition, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen the role of the Thai community that contributes to fostering closer Thailand–Australia relations at local level
