On 6 November 2024, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, met with Mr. John Hopkins, Managing Director and CEO, Export Finance Australia (EFA), and his team to discuss EFA’s role and explore ways to enhance trade and investment between Thailand and Australia. She was joined by the visiting delegation from the Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank) led by Mr. Bundit Sapianchai, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, and Dr. Rak Vorrakitpokatorn, President of the EXIM Bank.

 

Both sides exchanged views on opportunities for trade and investment between Thailand and Australia, and agreed to further strengthen their cooperation, with a view to advancing the Thailand-Australia Strategic Partnership and the implementation of Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.

 

Earlier in March 2024, the Australian Government announced the establishment of the two billion Australian dollar Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility (SEAIFF) to support financing for trade and investment projects in energy transition and infrastructure development in Southeast Asia. Export Finance Australia has been tasked with managing the fund.
