On 1 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, hosted a luncheon in honour of Mr. Paul Grimes PSM, Chief Executive Officer of Austrade, at the Ambassador’s Residence, with the participation of Ms. Jitvipa Benjasil, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Usanee Thinkohkaew, Investment Attache and Director of Thailand Board of Investment, Sydney Office, and Ms. Waraporn Saelee, Minister Counsellor (Agriculture), Office of Agricultural Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra.

On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on opportunities for Thailand - Australia economic cooperation, particularly in promoting investment in high-potential industries aligned with the current global economic landscape, including the digital economy, clean energy and green technology, agriculture and food, and medical and wellness. They also discussed cooperation in education and skills development to meet future labour market demands as well as collaboration in tourism with a focus on quality and sustainability.

The Ambassador underscored Australia’s importance as a key economic partner of Thailand and Austrade’s important role in further advancing economic cooperation as well as reaffirmed the Embassy and Team Thailand in Australia's readiness to support future economic engagements.

Austrade (Australian Trade and Investment Commission) is an agency responsible for promoting international trade, investment, education and tourism. It currently places emphasis on promoting two-way trade and investment, particularly with Southeast Asia, in line with the Australian Government’s Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.
