On 29 March 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, attended the Thai Festival 2026 in Adelaide, held at Barratt Reserve in West Beach, South Australia. The event attracted a large number of visitors, including members of the Thai community, Australians, and others interested in Thai culture.

On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed appreciation to the local authorities for their support in organising the event, including Councillor Graham Nitschke, representing the Mayor of the City of West Torrens, and Councillor Katriona Kinsella, Deputy Mayor representing the Mayor of the City of Charles Sturt.

The Ambassador noted that Thai Festival is one of the popular events for the Thai community in Australia, providing an opportunity for people from diverse cultural backgrounds to come together and learn from one another. It also serves as an important platform for the Thai community, particularly Thai youth who were born and raised in Australia, to learn about and take pride in their cultural heritage, while sharing the beauty of Thai culture with the Australian society.

This year, the Thai Festival in Adelaide highlighted the “Loy Krathong Festival”, one of Thailand’s most beautiful and meaningful traditions, reflecting the close connection between human and water. The event also featured Thai cultural performances, as well as stalls offering Thai food, handicrafts, and various Thai products, which drew strong interest from visitors.

In addition, a Thai costume fashion show was organised to promote knowledge and awareness of “Chud Thai”. The activity also raised awareness of Thailand’s nomination of “Chud Thai: The Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” for inscription on the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) list by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The Ambassador also commended the important role played by Thai community, particularly the Thai-Australian Association of South Australia (TAASA) and the organising committee, for their continued support in organising the Thai Festival in Adelaide. Their work has contributed significantly to strengthening unity within the Thai community and promoting Thai culture in Australian society, while helping to further enhance the friendship and cultural ties between Thailand and Australia.
