On Sunday, 11 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, attended the Consecration Ceremony of the Ordination Hall at Wat Sri Rattana Wanaram Mylor Forest Temple, Adelaide, South Australia. The ceremony was attended by a large number of Thai and international Buddhists from Adelaide and nearby areas. The Honourable Jing Lee, MLC, Member of the Legislative Council of South Australia, also attended the event.

 

The ceremony was presided over by Phra Dharmavajirapamok, Assistant Secretary-General of the Dhammayuttika Nikaya (Dhammayut) and Advisor to the Office of Supervision of Dhammayut Order Abroad. Participating monks included Phra Ratcha Phatchrayana Muni (Luang Pu Thong In Katapunyo), President of the Srirattanawaram Association and Abbot of Wat Prachakhom Wanaram (Pa Kung), Roi Et Province, Phra Dhamma Vachirarangsi, Abbot of Wat Pa Buddharangsee Buddhist Forest Monastery, Leumeah, NSW, Phra Rajasilaporn, Abbot of Dhammadharo Temple in Canberra and President of the Thai Dhammayut Sangha Council of Australia and New Zealand, and Phra Phaithun Chutikamo, Abbot of Wat Sri Rattana Wanaram Mylor Forest Temple. The Ambassador served as the presiding lay person.

 

On this occasion, the Ambassador participated in the offering of the monastic robe, the gilding of the principal boundary stone, and the ceremonial cutting of the rattan binding of the principal boundary stone. These rites form an important Buddhist ceremony symbolising the completion of the ordination hall and its role as a spiritual centre for Buddhists.
