On 11 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, attended “Songkran in Cairns 2026” held at Western Events Lawn, Cairns, Queensland. The event attracted a large number of visitors, including members of the Thai community, Australians, and others interested in Thai culture.
 
In her remarks, the Ambassador spoke about the background and importance of Songkran Festival. She commended the constructive role of the Cairns Thai Community Association FNQ Inc. and thanked members of the Thai community for helping preserve Thai cultural heritage and for sharing Thai culture with the wider community, which contributes to promoting multiculturalism and cross-cultural understanding as well as reinforcing people-to-people ties between Thailand and Australia.
 
Furthermore, the Ambassador expressed appreciation to the local authorities, including Mr. Michael Healy, MLA, Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly for Cairns, and Mrs. Cathy Zeiger, Councillor for Division 3, Cairns Regional Council, who took part in the Festival’s opening ceremony, for their continued support to the Thai community in Cairns. She also extended best wishes to the Thai community and all visitors on the occasion of the Thai New Year.
