On 13 December 2567, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, met with Mr. Nicholas Moore, Australian Government' s Special Envoy on Southeast Asia, at his office in Sydney, to discuss the implementation of the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, commissioned by the Australian Government aiming at enhancing Australia's economic engagement with Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand. Also joining the meeting were, on the Thai side, the Consul-General of Thailand in Sydney, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, Director of Thai Trade Office in Sydney, and Director of BOI Office in Sydney, and on the Australian side, Ms. Alexandra Goddard, External Relations Officer, New South Wales State Office of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.

 

The Special Envoy shared his views regarding the progress of implementation of the recommendations in the Strategy by the Australian side. Reaffirming her readiness to work with Australia to enhance economic engagement between the two countries and with Southeast Asia, the Ambassador informed the Special Envoy of relevant key points raised by H.E. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand with Senator the Hon. Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, during the Thailand-Australia Biennial Foreign Ministers' Meeting, in Adelaide on 11 December. These include opportunities to deepen strategic partnership in such areas as agriculture and food security, energy, health, education, and infrastructure and logistics development.

 

The Ambassador and the Special Envoy also exchanged views on ways forward to concretize the implementation of the said Strategy, for the mutual benefits of the two countries.
