On 17 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand, together with Mr. Naruchai Ninnad, Consul-General in Sydney, participated in the seminar on “ASEAN and Australia: Deepening and Widening Ties,” organised by the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre (SSEAC) at the University of Sydney, in conjunction with the ASEAN-Australia Centre.

As current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Canberra, the Ambassador joined a panel discussion with Ms. Fionna Hoggart, Director of the ASEAN Australia Centre; Mr. John Hopkin, CEO of Export Finance Australia; and Mr. Chris Barnes, Head of Business Development and International Affairs at the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Ambassador highlighted opportunities in key sectors for ASEAN and Australia to enhance cooperation and economic engagement, such as food and agriculture, energy transition and green economy, digital economy, medicine and health, and creative economy. She also emphasized the importance of collaboration across government, private sector, and academia in strengthening ASEAN-Australia engagement, including through building broader networks to raise awareness of ASEAN’s opportunities and potential.

On this occasion, SSEAC also invited Mr. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General for the ASEAN Economic Community, to deliver a keynote address. Mr. Singh underscored the growing opportunities for cooperation between Australia and ASEAN amid increasing volatility in the international system.
