On 13 August 2025, Mr. Peerapong Phimonwichayakit, Minister Counsellor, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, represented the Embassy in a ceremony to pass on the “Peace Torch” as part of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run.
The Peace Run is a global relay seeking to promote peace, founded in 1987 by Sri Chinmoy, a peace advocate. The event is held bi-annually in various regions around the world.
In Australia in 2025, the Peace Run started in Canberra on 26 April and will conclude on 13 August at the Parliament.
Throughout the event, the Peace Run team carried the “Peace Torch” around the Australian continent, covering a distance of approximately 15,000 kilometres. Representatives from various foreign embassies also took part in receiving and passing on the torch, symbolising a shared commitment to peace.
