General Information
The Embassy will issue a certification for military draft deferment only for the duration of your studies.
Documents Required for Submission

Please fill out and download the form (<– click to download) completely.

An original English-language student status certification issued by the educational institution where the applicant is studying. This document must include the following information: full name of the student, student ID number, field of study, duration of the course, start date, and expected graduation date.

A Thai-translated version of the student status certification, which can be translated and self-certified by the applicant (signature must match the one in the passport) or translated by a professional translator (NAATI) who must sign to certify the accuracy of the translation.

One copy of the national ID card (the applicant must certify the copy as true and sign it).

One copy of a valid passport (the applicant must certify the copy as true and sign it).

One copy of the house registration document (the applicant must certify the copy as true and sign it).

A copy of the military reserve certificate (Form S.D. 9).

A copy of the military call-up notice (Form S.D. 35) (if applicable).

A fee of 25 Australian dollars payable in cash or Money Order made out to “Royal Thai Embassy” only.

If submitting by mail, please send documents to Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra, 111 Empire Circuit, Yarralumla, ACT 2600.

If the applicant does not wish to pick up the deferment request in person and wants the Embassy to send the documents back, please include a registered post envelope (size B4 – 500 grams/20 mm) clearly addressed to the recipient along with the documents.
