During 16-18 April 2024, following the presentation of the Letter of Credence to His Majesty King Tupou VI of Tonga, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Tonga, with residence in Canberra, paid courtesy calls on ministers and high-level officials of Tonga, namely, (1) The Honourable Samiu Vaipulu, Acting Prime Minister; (2) The Honourable Lord Sione Siale Fohe, Minister for Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Fisheries; (3) The Honourable Viliami Uasike Latu, Minister for Trade, Economic Development and Tourism; (4) Mr. Onetoto ‘Anisi, Acting CEO, Ministry of Internal Affairs; (5) Mr. Leonaitasi Kuluni, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and (6) Ms. Akanesi Taufa, Acting Chief Secretary and Secretary to the Cabinet, Office of the Prime Minister.

The meetings encompassed issues and ways to further enhance relations and cooperation between Thailand and Tonga in various areas, including trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, development cooperation and humam resource development, as well as mutual support in international forums and Tonga’s preparations to host the Pacific Islands Forum meetings later in 2024.
