On 4 February 2025, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, met with the 2025 New Colombo Plan (NCP) scholars who will be studying in Thailand, as well as NCP alumni who were in Thailand, during a reception organized by the New Colombo Plan Secretariat, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia. Then, on 5 February 2025, the Ambassador and Embassy official participated in an NCP Meet & Greet event to exchange views and answer the scholars’ questions about Thailand as they prepare for their departure.

The New Colombo Plan scholarship program was established by the Australian government in 2014 to enable Australian university students to study and intern in 40 countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

This year, there are 219 NCP scholars, 6 of whom are going to study in Thailand at Chiang Mai University, Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, Assumption University, and Thammasat University on Public Health, Philosophy and Religion, Languages and Literature, Tourism, and Engineering and Technology.

The Royal Thai Embassy attaches importance to promoting student exchanges between Thailand and Australia. It is hoped that the NCP scholars will gain invaluable knowledge and experiences, forge new friendship and build networks, thereby contributing to strengthening the partnership between Thailand and Australia.
