Ambassador of Thailand met with the Honourable Minister for Trade and Investment of South Australia and Business Chamber SA

On 30 July 2024, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, met the Honourable Joe Szakacs MP, Minister for Trade and Investment of South Australia. Mrs. Amanda-Jane Giannopoulus, Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Adelaide Ms. Sithee Tanboonteck and Director of the Thailand Board of Investment’s Sydney Office also joined the meeting. Both sides acknowledged the potential for trade and investment between Thailand and South Australia including in sectors such as agricultural technology, livestock, food, education (especially skills development), healthcare, wine, renewable energy, as well as the digital and creative economies. The Ambassador invited Minister Szakacs to lead a business delegation to visit Thailand to further promote economic ties.

 

The Ambassador later met with Mr. Andrew Kay, CEO of the South Australian Business Chamber. They discussed ways to promote trade and investment between Thailand and South Australia, particularly business-to-business cooperation in areas of mutual potential. Currently, Business Chamber SA provides services to businesses in South Australia, such as issuing certificates of origin, migration works, and providing translation services for businesses engaged in international trade. South Australia’s main exports to Thailand include beef, grains, and wine, as well as seafood, medical equipment and other food products.
