On 15 September 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra in collaboration with Team Thailand agencies in Australia, private sector dealing with Thai products and services, Wat Dhammadharo, Australian – Thai Association in Canberra and Thai communities in Canberra and nearby area, organized the Thai Festival 2024 at the Royal Thai Embassy. Mr. Andrew Barr, Chief Minister, Australian Capital Territory – ACT, was invited to join H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to officially opened the Festival. The opening ceremony was also attended by members of the Parliament, senior representatives from ACT, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, members of Diplomatic Corps, Heads of Team Thailand agencies in Australia and sponsors.
The Festival showcased multi-facet aspects of Thailand, including its rich culture, trade and economic potentials, Thailand’s creative economy, and opportunities for further collaboration between Thailand and Australia. This year, the Embassy also presented information and highlights about the northeastern region of Thailand, including Nakhon Ratchasima province, which is known as UNESCO Triple Crown City, which also hosting numerous foreign educational institutions and promoting neutral carbon travel routes.
The Festival offered a wide range of cultural and fun activities for all age groups comprising of authentic Thai food, fruits and beverage stalls, cultural performances including traditional dances and Muay Thai demonstrations, a live band performing contemporary Thai and international hits, traditional musical performances by Thai young talented performers, kids’ corner, Team Thailand agencies booths, and prize draws.
The Festival was well attended by more than 5,000 visitors from Canberra and nearby areas.
