On 1 December 2021, H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, together with the Heads of Team Thailand Agencies in Australia, hosted a Reception on the Occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, Thai National Day, and Thai Father’s Day at Sala Thai, Royal Thai Embassy. The Reception was attended by Mr. Ian McConville, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Senator David Van (Victoria), Chair of the Australian Parliamentary Friends of Thailand, Senator Luke Gosling MP, Vice Chair of the Australian Parliamentary Friends of Thailand, Mr. Scott Buchholz, Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, Mr. Justin Hayhurst, Deputy Secretary, Indo-Pacific Group, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Brendan Smyth, Commissioner for International Engagement, ACT, Dean of Diplomatic Corps, senior officials from relevant Australian Departments and military agencies, Dean and members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the private sector and academic institutions, Thai community and Friends of Thailand. The reception was held in a covid-safe arrangement in line with current ACT health measures.
On this occasion, the Chief of Protocol proposed a toast to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phravajiraklaochaoyuhua and the people of Thailand. The Ambassador
of Thailand in return proposed a toast to His Majesty the King, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and to the people of Australia. At this function, all the guests had the opportunity to view a video presentation titled “Legacy for the People” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; a video documentary on His Majesty King Rama X in Australia, produced by the Australian Embassy in Bangkok; a video presentation on APEC 2022 Thailand Handover, as well as videos on tourism in Thailand by Tourism Authority of Thailand.
