Thai Emergency Passport

Thai nationals whose passports are expired or lost and in need to apply for an Emergency Passport are required to submit the application, in person, at the Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra since the application process requires to collect biometric data, including photo, fingerprint, retinal of the applicants.

For applicants aged 20 years old or above, please provide the required documents as follows:

  1. A completed and signed Passport Application Form, which can be downloaded at https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/;
  2. Original and a certified true copy of the lost/expired passport;
  3. Original and a certified true copy of Thai ID card;
  4. Certified true copy of household registration;
  5. Report of loss of passport certified by the Australian Police (in case of loss of passport only). Please complete the Embassy’s report of loss of passport, which can be downloaded at https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/lost-passport-report.pdf;
  6. Passport application fee of $12

 

For Minors (under 20 years of age), the minor applicants and their parents are required to be presence and to sign a Letter of Consent at the Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra, and provide supporting documents as follows:

  1. A completed and signed Passport Application Form, which can be downloaded at https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/;
  2. A certified true copy of birth certificate of the minor applicant;
  3. A certified true copy of expired/lost passport of the minor applicant;
  4. Certified true copies of the parents’ passports (if available);
  5. A certified true copy of Thai ID of the minor applicant;
  6. Certified true copies of the parents’ Thai IDs;
  7. A certified true copies of the parents’ house registration
  8. A certified true copy of the parents’ Marriage Certificate;
  9. If the parents are divorced,
  • A Certificate of Divorce with details of who has the custodial right over the minor applicant;
  • A court order indicating the person (mother or father) who has the custody of the child;
  1. In case where the minor applicant is under guardianship of one of the parents, a letter issued by District Office at the parent’s locality confirming the guardianship of either parent or Por Kor 14 Letter;
  2. Report of loss of passport certified by the Australian Police (in case of loss of passport only). Please complete the Embassy’s report of loss of passport, which can be downloaded at https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/lost-passport-report.pdf;
  3. Passport application fee of $12

 

In case parents are unable to be presence and sign the Letter of Consent in person at the Royal Embassy in Canberra, a Letter of Consent certified by District Office at the parent’s locality or the Royal Thai Embassy/Royal Thai Consulate (if the parents reside abroad) confirming that the minor is allowed to travel overseas

 

In case one of the parents passed away, the living parent will be required to sign the Letter of Consent and to present a Death Certificate of the deceased parent.

 

Thai Emergency Passport (previously named Temporary Passport) will be issued to those whose ordinary passports are lost or expired and are in need of overseas travel. The Emergency Passport is valid for 1 year after issuance and cannot be renewed. In case of emergency travelling, please apply for a Certificate of Identity (CI) or an Emergency Travel Document.
