Charge d’Affaires attended the 2022 MPavilion Opening Launch and Celebration

On 8 December 2022, Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Charge d’Affaires, attended and delivered remarks at the 9th MPavilion 2022 Opening Launch and Celebration at the Queen Victoria Gardens, Melbourne.  Ms. Naomi Milgrom, Founder of the Naomi Milgrom Foundation and the Hon Mr. Steve Dimopoulos MP, Minister for Creative Industries/Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, together with Ms. Tessa Sullivan, Honorary Thai Consul in Melbourne also presided over the ceremony.  The opening was celebrated with Thai cultural performances which attracted around 200 people.

The MPavilion 2022 was commissioned to Dr. Rachaporn Choochuey of all(zone), a Thai architect and professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. As this year marks the 70th anniversary of Thailand-Australia relations, and to celebrate, MPavilion, in cooperation with the Royal Thai Embassy and together with the Honorary Thai Consulate in Melbourne and the Thai-Australian Chamber (TAC) will organise a series of activities and events reflecting Thai culture to commemorate this special occasion throughout the MPavilion season from 8 December 2022- 6 April 2023.

On 7 December 2022, Mr. Sira attended a dinner hosted by Ms. Tessa Sullivan, Honorary Consul in Melbourne at her residence with the presence of TAC board members.  They took the opportunity to exchange views on various matters, including ways to enhance trade and investment between Melbourne and Thailand, strengthen cooperation amongst the Thai community to support the work of the Honorary Consul, as well as ways to raise awareness on the significance of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Australia.
