Australia – ASEAN Business Forum 2024
On 29 August 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy Canberra participated in the Australia – ASEAN Business Forum, an annual event organised by the Australian business sector, with support from the ASEAN Committee in Canberra (ACC). The objectives of the Business Forum is to showcase the potential of each ASEAN country, promote investment and strengthen networks between Australia and ASEAN countries.
The event featured panel discussions on topics where ASEAN member countries have potential, with experts from government, businesses and academia from ASEAN and Australia joining the panel in areas including green economy and energy transition, agriculture and food security, medical and health resilience, digital transition and innovation, and start-ups and venture capital investment.
This year, the Embassy invited leading Thai businesses in the digital economy and start-up sectors to take part in the panel discussions, including Ms. Oranuch Lertsuwankij, CEO & Co-founder of TechSauce to promote startup businesses and Mr. Nattapon Kraisingkorn, Managing Director of Amity Solutions, to share his experience on artificial intelligence (AI). In addition, Mr. Tanachat Phochana, Chairman of Enserv Holding participated in the discussion on agriculture and food security.
The event was attended by about 300 investors from Australian and Southeast Asian countries, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, and representatives from the Australian agencies. High-level representatives from the Australian and New South Wales governments also attended to give keynote addresses, including the Honourable Senator Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism, the Honourable Christopher Minns MP, Premier of New South Wales and the Honourable Senator Tim Ayres, Assistant Minister for Trade. The Consul-General of Thailand in Sydney, Director of Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) Office in Sydney and representatives of Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra and Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney were also in attendance.
