ASEAN Committee in Canberra met with ACT’s Commissioner for International Engagement

On 30 July 2021, Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra, joined the ASEAN Committee in Canberra (ACC), led by HE Mr. Nguyen Tat Thanh, Ambassador of Viet Nam to Australia and as ACC Chair, in meeting with Mr. Brendan Smyth, Commissioner for International Engagement, ACT.  Both sides agreed on the importance of bringing international students to continue their studies in Australia.  They will not only help support the post-pandemic economic recovery but also to maintain the people-to-people ties.  The ACT is considering proposals to safely bring back international students to Canberra possibly in 2022 following its effective management of COVID-19 within the Territory.
