ASEAN Committee in Canberra met virtually with the Commissioner for Victoria to Southeast Asia
On 30 June 2021 HE Ms Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand and Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Canberra (ACC) together with Ambassadors/High Commissioners of ASEAN Member States in Canberra met virtually with Ms Rebecca Hall, Commissioner for Victoria to Southeast Asia. Ms Hall represents the Victoria Government in promoting trade and investment in Southeast Asia where she emphasized the Victoria Government’s readiness to expand economic collaboration with ASEAN countries particularly in digital transformation, medical technology, renewable energy and agri-food. Both sides stressed the importance of education and supported the priority of bringing ASEAN students back to continue their studies in Victoria which houses the second largest cohort of ASEAN students in Australia. In addition, Ambassador Busadee also met virtually with Ms Hall bilaterally.
Both sides agreed to explore further expanding economic collaboration between Thailand and Victoria in sectors of common interest such as sustainable development, bio-circular-green economy, public health cooperation, and digital economy. Ambassador Busadee also informed Ms Hall of the opportunities in EEC, Phuket Sandbox and the importance of the Mekong sub-region.
