Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand presented the Letter of Credence to Governor General of Solomon Islands

On 29 September 2022, H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand presented the Letter of Credence to H.E. Sir David Vunagi, GCMG KStJ, Governor General of Solomon Islands at the Government House in Honiara, being accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Solomon Islands, with residence in Canberra, Commonwealth of Australia.

 

On this occasion, Ambassador Busadee paid courtesy calls upon The Hon. Bradley Tovosia, MP, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification, and The Hon. Fredrick Kologeto, MP, Supervising Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade and Minister for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration. Both sides exchanged views on several issues, including bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Solomon Islands on technical cooperation, provision of scholarships for postgraduate and training programmes, achieving Sustainable Development Goals through the application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, fishery and fishery products, climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as reduction of environmental impacts through the application of Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economic Model. In addition, both sides discussed matters relating to cooperation between Thailand and Solomon Islands at the regional and multilateral levels, including through the United Nations frameworks and relevant fora.

In that evening, Ambassador Busadee hosted a dinner for the Thai community in Honiara. The Thai community took this opportunity to share individual experiences and their livelihoods in Solomon Islands.

On 30 September 2022, Ambassador Busadee paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Lachlan Strahan, Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands and Dean of Diplomatic Corps in Honiara. Both sides exchanged views on the relations between Solomon Islands and Australia, the general political and security situation in the South Pacific region, ongoing cooperation between Thailand and Solomon Islands, and possibility of trilateral development cooperation between Thailand, Australia and Solomon Islands.
