Ambassador of Thailand to Australia meets with Thai – Australian private sector in Western Australia

On 27 May 2022, H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Commonwealth of Australia met with representatives of the private sectors in Western Australia (WA) to enhance economic cooperation between Thailand and the State of WA as follows.

1) Powerledger Company

Powerledger is an Australian tech startup that has developed a world-first blockchain enabled energy and environmental commodity trading platform to make energy markets more efficient. The company won Sir Richard Branson’s international Extreme Tech Challenge in 2018. In association with business partners in Thailand, Powerledger currently overlooks peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading platform in Bangkok and in Chiang Mai province.

2) Fortescue Future Industries (FFI)

FFI is an Australian energy company committed to producing zero-emission green hydrogen from 100 per cent renewable sources. The company aims  to produce 50 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year in Asia- Pacific region by 2050.

3) Australia – Thailand Business Council (ATBC)

In 1980, a number of Australian companies with interest in Thailand formed ATBC as a private sector initiative to develop connections and to promote Australian business in Thailand. ATBC enjoys links through Thailand’s International Trade Committee with
the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC), the Federation of Thai Industries (FDI),
the Thai Bankers’ Association (TBA) and the Australian Thai Chamber of Commerce (AustCham Thailand).

 

4) Australia – Thailand Business Chamber Western Australia (ATBCWA)

ATBCWA was established in 2020 to foster, support and promote opportunities to increase and strengthen bilateral trade, investment and cultural ties between Western Australia and Thailand.

5) PTTEP Australia

PTTEP Australia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP). The company owns a number of gas and condensate fields and operates North Kimberley Airport, which provides transportation services for gas and oil exploration companies, passengers and rescue operation in Northern Australia.

In addition, in 2021, Thailand is ranked 10th largest trading partner of Western Australia with the total trade value of 4 billion AUD, which accounted as 1.5 percent of Western Australia’s international trade.
