Ambassador of Thailand meets virtually with Trade and Investment Queensland

On 17 August 2021, HE Ms Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand  together with Ms Sithee Tanboonteck, Director  of the Thailand Board of Investment, Sydney,     Ms Pamornpan Wong-Ngoen, Educational Attache, met virtually with Mr David Phipps, Director, International Markets, Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) and Mr Tom Calder, Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner to ASEAN as well as  relevant officials from TIQ.  Both sides emphasised the importance of Thailand-Australia relations particularly of their trade relations.  As Queensland’s 4th top trading partner, Thailand currently enjoys with Queensland trade value of more than two billion Australian Dollars.  As Thailand’s largest investment destination in Australia, Thai companies are mostly invested in Queensland.  Moreover, there is a large number of Thais living in Queensland including students. Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on ways to further strengthen collaboration in various sectors including education, energy, agri-tech, bio-circular economy.  To further advance mutual interest between Thailand and Queensland, Thailand welcomes that TIQ will appoint a TIQ representative to Thailand to promote trade and investment collaboration.
