The Thai Advance Team travels to Haiti
On 29 January 2010, Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, held a press conference before the advance team of Thailand departs Bangkok to Haiti. The trip is a follow-up to the Thai Cabinet’s decision to provide humanitarian assistance to Haiti, which was hit by a massive earthquake on 12 January 2010.

Foreign Minister gives well-wishes to Thai advance team to Haiti
On 27 January 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya met with the advance team of Thailand, comprising 2 representatives from the Ministry of Defense, 1 representative from the Emergency Medical Institute of Thailand, and 2 officials from the Foreign Ministry, who will be traveling to Haiti to explore ways and means to provide humanitarian assistance to the country following the massive earthquake, at the Foreign Ministry.

Mitrphol Sugar Corp., Ltd. provides financial assistance to Haiti through the Foreign Ministry
On 29 January 2010, Mr. Rawat Chatsudthipong, Vice President to the Executives Office of Mitr Phol Sugar Corp., Ltd., presented a donation of Baht 100,000 to Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The contribution was a part of the financial assistance from the Thai private sector to help the victims of earthquake in Haiti. The Foreign Ministry will coordinate with the United Nations (UN) in channeling Thailand’s contributions to help Haiti accordingly.
