More than 600 guests attended the Thai National Day Gala Dinner in Melbourne, organized by Dr. Simon Wallace, Honorary Consul-General of Melbourne. The event raised over 1 million baht to be donated to various organizations in Thailand to help flood victims.
The Christmas Island Women’s Association (CIWA) in association with the Christmas Island Thai community raised over AUD$10,000 at the ‘Thai Flood Appeal Community Fund Raising Event’ for victims of the recent flood crisis in Thailand on November 19, 2011. The Shire of Christmas Island was a sponsor of the event along with many other local business organisations. All fund raising proceeds were sent through ‘Save The Children Fund.’ Save the Children Australia reached over 20,000 children and their families affected by the flooding in Thailand.

H.E.Dr.Kriangsak Kittichaisaree attended the Crawford School's the successful book launch 'Financing Higher Education & Economic Development in East Asia' on November 23 which was also a fundraising event to support Thailand at this difficult time. All proceeds of book sales from this launch were donated to the Thai Red Cross Society to provide immediate flood disaster support.

The Royal Thai Embassy would like to thank all friends of Thailand for their donation. The total of 7,170AUD is transferred to Thailand on 21 November 2011 to help flood victims in Thailand. (Donation is still accepted.)
Thai Students Association of Victoria raised over 8,000 dollars from the flood relief event at South Bank, Melbourne on 6th November 2011. The fund was donated to the Thai Red Cross Society to help flood victims in Thailand.
From the flood disaster emerge Thai student role models abroad.
Millions of people throughout Thailand have suffered one of the most disastrous flood in the past half century, with over 500 lives lost and billion-baht worth of damages across the sectors. Such vast destruction has touched just about everyone including the Thais abroad whose families and friends still live in Thailand. The Thai communities and Friends of Thailand across Australia have tirelessly pitched in to help the best they can. Thai students in Australia have also proven themselves to be one of the strongest contributors in the flood relief effort. Recently the Thai Student Association of the University of Newcastle, for example, had raised almost 8,500 Australia dollars to be donated to the Thai Red Cross. The initiatives and contributions of the Thai communities and the kind-hearted donors, Thais and Friends of Thailand alike, have shown the world that you can and are capable of reaching out and helping those in need, no matter who and where you are. Donation to help flood victims can still be made through the Royal Thai Embassy – Emergency Relief account, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, BSB no. 062 900, Account no. 1073 3708.

คนไทยหลายล้านคนประสบความยากลำบากและต้องเผชิญความสูญเสียที่เกิดจากน้ำท่วมประเทศครั้งใหญ่ในรอบครึ่งศตวรรษ ที่ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย 500 คน ภาคธุรกิจ ภาคการเกษตร โครงสร้างพื้นฐานและสาธารณูปโภค เสียหายหลายสิบพันล้านบาท คนไทยทุกคนต่างได้รับผลกระทบรวมทั้งคนไทยในต่างประเทศที่ญาติพี่น้องอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศไทยด้วย ขอแสดงความชื่นชมและขอบคุณชุมชนไทยและ Friends of Thailand ทั่วออสเตรเลียที่ร่วมแรงร่วมใจอย่างเต็มที่ในการจัดกิจกรรมการกุศลและบริจาคเงินช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัย รวมทั้งนักเรียนนักศึกษาไทยในออสเตรเลียที่เสียสละและอุทิศแรงกายแรงใจในการจัดกิจกรรมช่วยกันระดมขอรับบริจาคเงินด้วย ยกตัวอย่างเช่น สมาคมนักเรียนไทยของมหาวิทยาลัยนิวคาสเซิลซึ่งสามารถรวบรวมเงินบริจาคได้เกือบ 8,500 ดอลลาร์ออสเตรเลีย หรือประมาณ 250,000 บาท การริเริ่มกิจกรรมที่ดีและความเสียสละเพื่อสาธารณประโยชน์ ประกอบกับความมีน้ำใจเอื้ออาทรของผู้บริจาคทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศในออสเตรเลีย แสดงให้เห็นว่าทุกคนไม่ว่าจะเป็นใครหรือจะอยู่ที่ใดในโลกก็ตามสามารถที่จะยื่นมือเข้าช่วยเหลือผู้ตกทุกข์ได้ยากได้ด้วยกันทั้งสิ้น ทั้งนี้ สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงแคนเบอร์รา ยังคงเปิดรับเงินบริจาคเพื่อช่วยผู้ประสบภัยน้ำท่วมทางธนาคาร Commonwealth Bank of Australia ชื่อบัญชี Royal Thai Embassy – Emergency Relief BSB no. 062900 เลขที่บัญชี 1073 3708
